Iran Closes Strait Hormuz
Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz today. The IRGC is broadcasting marine radio warnings instructing all vessels not to pass through the chokepoint that carries 13 million barrels of oil per day, roughly 31 percent of all seaborne crude flows worldwide. Oil tankers that ignored the warnings were attacked. The Palau flagged Skylight was struck 5 nautical miles off Oman. Three British and American tankers were hit in the Gulf. Maersk suspended all shipping through the Strait. Tankers are building up at the entrance but nothing is going through. A former White House energy advisor said a prolonged closure is a guaranteed global recession. Analysts warn oil could surge past $100 per barrel. Half of China's crude imports come through that waterway. The entire global economy depends on cheap energy moving through a passage now controlled by a nation the United States is bombing. Operation Epic Fury has struck more than 1,000 Iranian targets in 2 days. B-2 stealth bombers flew sorties from Whiteman Air Force Base. The US used its new PrSM ballistic missiles in combat for the first time. Three US service members were killed in Kuwait. Trump told the Daily Mail the operation could last 4 weeks. More than 200 Iranians are dead and 700 wounded according to the Red Crescent. Israel declared aerial superiority over Tehran. Iran fired at least 150 ballistic missiles at Israel. Cluster warhead equipped missiles hit Beit Shemesh and Tel Aviv. Iranian drones struck a UK base in Cyprus. The UAE intercepted 165 ballistic missiles and 541 drones but 21 drones reached civilian targets. Kuwait intercepted 97 missiles and 283 drones. Iran hit Oman, Bahrain, and an Amazon data center in the UAE that caught fire. This is not a surgical strike. This is a regional war across 7 countries simultaneously.
Reuters reported Sunday that an Israeli defense official confirmed the war had been planned for months and the launch date decided weeks ago, even as negotiations continued. A 2009 Brookings Institution document titled Which Path to Persia recommended that Washington carry out negotiations ahead of a planned attack to give the false impression that the US had done everything to avoid war. The document stated the best way to minimize international opprobrium is to strike only when there is widespread conviction that the Iranians were given but rejected a superb offer. Omani Foreign Minister Albusaidi, who mediated the recent Geneva talks, said the negotiations he facilitated had been deliberately undermined. The Washington Post reported that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman made multiple private phone calls to Trump over the past month advocating for attack despite his public support for diplomacy. Bank of America on February 25 set its 12 month gold price target at $6,000 per ounce. JPMorgan targets $6,300. UBS base case is $6,200 with an upside scenario of $7,200. Wells Fargo set its range at $6,100 to $6,300. Gold ETF inflows hit an all time high in September 2025 at $14 billion, an 880 percent surge. Mine supply is falling. BofA's Michael Widmer forecasts the 13 major North American gold miners will produce 2 percent less output in 2026. Investors remain structurally underweight with high net worth individuals holding just 0.5 percent of assets in gold. Every major bank on Wall Street is now confirming what preppers who stacked physical metals years ago already knew. The monetary system built on debt and printed currency is failing and gold is the exit.
Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem vowed Sunday that the group will confront the aggression of the United States and Israel. Rockets were fired into northern Israel from southern Lebanon. The IDF responded with airstrikes. Pakistan's war with Afghanistan continued with Islamabad confirming 37 Afghan locations targeted by aerial strikes. Afghanistan claimed it shot down a Pakistani fighter jet over Jalalabad and captured the pilot alive. Violent clashes erupted at the US Consulate in Karachi over the Iran war, killing several and wounding dozens. Pro Iranian protesters in Baghdad attempted to force their way into the Green Zone toward the US Embassy. Iran named a temporary leadership council to fill the vacuum left by Khamenei's death. Trump told Fox News 48 Iranian leaders have been killed. He told CNBC operations are ahead of schedule. When the empire that planned this war months ago while pretending to negotiate is now fighting across 7 countries while oil tankers burn in the Strait of Hormuz and proxy forces activate from Lebanon to Iraq to Pakistan, the word for that is not operation. The word is conflagration.
"I started writing about carrier movements toward Iran in late January. Every issue since documented the same escalation. Embassy evacuations. Geneva talks producing contradictory statements. AI predicting attack dates. Gold breaking records. Nuclear treaties expiring. Infrastructure crumbling. I wrote on February 25 that AI models predicted strikes beginning the final days of February. The strikes began February 28. I wrote that the talks were theater and the buildup was the plan. Reuters confirmed Sunday the launch date was decided weeks ago while negotiations continued. A 2009 Brookings document described the exact strategy that was executed. Pretend to negotiate. Make an offer designed to be rejected. Then strike in sorrow not anger. The playbook was public for 17 years. Now the Strait of Hormuz is closed. Oil is surging. Seven countries are under fire. Three American soldiers are dead. Every major bank targets gold above $6,000. And the empire that cannot fix its own sewage pipes or fund $300 billion in wastewater repairs is running a 4 week bombing campaign across the Middle East funded by the same printing press that is killing the currency that gold is replacing. None of this required prophecy. Just the willingness to read a 17 year old document and believe what it said. Prepare accordingly."

Everyone’s Arguing About a 2026 Recession—Meanwhile, 70,819 Investors Found This Unexpected Hedge
The economy isn’t clearly breaking. But who would say it’s fine? GDP says one thing. Sentiment says another. Markets bounce up and down. Even the pros can’t agree on what comes next.
Here’s the thing. Most everyday investors often stick with what they know. Stocks. Bonds. Cash.
Few people understand one key principle. An investment is one decision. A portfolio is another.
Data suggests smart portfolios are built on different asset classes that don’t all react to the same forces.
There’s one that serious investors use to diversify that’s moved independently for decades.
Priced globally. Finite supply. Protected from flash crashes.
